For many regular customers, like myself the news was devastating. That morning Friday visit was a ritual, that cheat meal after a long week of good behaviour! The Doussant had become a staple of many people's week, and its absence will leave a noticeable void. However, the bakery's owner, Jason Lilley, explained that the decision was a necessary one.
In a statement, Lilley explained that the production of the Doussant was time-consuming and put a strain on the bakery's resources. He went on to say that the bakery was looking to streamline their operations and focus on other menu items that were equally as popular but less labor-intensive.
Despite the initial disappointment, the response to the end of the Doussant has been overwhelmingly positive. Many customers have taken to social media to express their support for the bakery and their understanding of the decision. Some have even suggested alternative menu items that they would like to see added.
The end of the Doussant marks the end of an era for Jason's Bakery, but it also signals a new beginning. By streamlining their operations, the bakery will be able to focus on what they do best: creating delicious and innovative baked goods. And for those who are still mourning the loss of the Doussant, it's important to remember that change is a necessary part of growth and evolution. Who knows, maybe the bakery will surprise us with a new and equally delicious pastry in the future!
