In Cape Town, South Africa, Jason's Bakery has been a beloved bakery and breakfast spot for locals and tourists alike for many years. One of their most popular menu items was the Doussant, a decadent pastry that was a cross between a croissant and a doughnut. However, the bakery announced yesterday on Instagram that they would be ending the production of the Doussant.

For many regular customers, like myself the news was devastating. That morning Friday visit was a ritual, that cheat meal after a long week of good behaviour! The Doussant had become a staple of many people's week, and its absence will leave a noticeable void. However, the bakery's owner, Jason Lilley, explained that the decision was a necessary one.

In a statement, Lilley explained that the production of the Doussant was time-consuming and put a strain on the bakery's resources. He went on to say that the bakery was looking to streamline their operations and focus on other menu items that were equally as popular but less labor-intensive.

Despite the initial disappointment, the response to the end of the Doussant has been overwhelmingly positive. Many customers have taken to social media to express their support for the bakery and their understanding of the decision.
